I guess I first saw River in Indiana Jones when it premiered in 1989. I didn´t think anything about him, but I remember that I had some female class mates who liked him. Then I saw "Stand by me" and found out it was the same guy, but I didn´t really notice him that much until the day he died. I remember I was up early and had to go to school, and then I saw this memorian on an english channel and couldn´t believe when they say that "Young Indiana Jones" was dead. I felt sad right away and didn´t know why, because I never knew him at all. I said to myself that he had to die because of drugs because he was so young, but the press said his death was very mysterious and they didn´t know the reason. I remember following the case closely the following days where a lot was mentioned on MTV text TV. One article said that he definetely didn´t die from drugs, and some said he had a heart attack because of too much work. When he died I knew right away that he was too important to be forgotten, so I started searching on info on him through magazines, books, movies etc. I also started collect on him because I wanted his memory and appearence to live on. I build up a quite huge collection over the years that followed and have a lot of merchandise today and also his original autograph. When learning about River I found out that we had so much in common. Our beliefs for the nature, animals and family is very similary and we shared the same height and eye colour. I guess that´s the reason I became a fan - because we believe in the same things. Over the years I have had a River fanclub for three years, I have worked on River projects having him honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and having a memorial at the Viper Room each Halloween. River will always be a big and important part of my life, I see him as my hero, my role model and my "big brother"......Chris

I was 17 years old when I took an interest in River. Riv had just turned 16 years old, one month before I knew about him. I remember when "Stand by me" was in the movie theaters and there was a lot of talk going about the movie at my school. One day a friend of mine and I went and saw it. One look into River´s eyes was all it took. There was something about Riv that I just had to know more about him. I think it was meant to be that I knew about Riv. A lot of positive experiences came from knowing about him. Along with it came personal memories I have of River. He gave me guidence when I needed it, and inspired me to be more educated on important issues. But most importantly Riv showed me that brief moment in time in my life just how much he cared.
"River, my dear, I will never forget your sweet smile you showed me!". The time when I found out when Riv passed away will always be in the back of my mind. I was 24 years old at that time. It was late that Halloween night when I heard and saw the news on T.V. I was in such shock. The media frenzy that surrounded Riv´s death was so hard to deal with. I often broke down into tears. It took me such a long time to find that inner peace that I needed. It´s so amazing to me that even though Riv has been gone for so many years, he´s still thought of and remembered to this day. There is just something about Riv and I can´t explain it. I could never let go of him. He will always be in my head and heart.
