this is my story....
I don´t know exactlay, when I first saw River on tv, but I think, it was with 12 or 13 years.
My first impression of him was, that he´s good looking and very cute, remember, I was 12!
But as time goes on, I recognised, River is much more. He played all his roles with such an intensity and with all his heart.
Every character, he played was so credible and somtimes, until today, it shivers down my spine, when I see him on a movie.
The day he died, I was totally shocked... I couldn`t imagine that "my" River fades away!!! The most shocking for me was, as I heard, he died on a overdose of drugs.
I never heard before that he has taken drugs.... It upset me very, very much! I I cried a lot at this time.
Although I didn`t know him, he was deep in my heart and always will be.
Now 15 years after his death, I still think about him, and I am glad to see, that I am not the only one. It´s impressive, how many fans all over the world are still there.
I want to say, that its not so easy for me, to express my feelings and write this down in english, in german I would find more words to describe it exactly, But I did my best!

My name is Angie and I was born on August 22nd in 1986. On this tragically Halloween night in 1993 I was only 7 years old, so I never had the chance to knew River in lifetime. First I heard about River from my older sister. She was telling me the story about his death and the drug problem he had (just the story most people know about River). At this time I was about 20 years old and I started to gather informations about River and his life. I was deeply touched about his story and bought a poster of him to esteem the person he was. A few weeks after I turned 22, there was a frightened night, which was predetermined to chance my life enduring. From this day forth I realized how short a life can be and how rapid it can be too late. I am deeply grateful that someone gave me the chance to start all over again,....maybe it was a guardian angel. Since this doom I think about River every day. It really makes me sad that River didn´t had the chance, that I had, to begin his life anew. Regrettably, we are unable to give him breath again. Rio once said: "Addiction is not just for bad people or scumbags - it´s a universal desease." I´m really thankful that River gives me the energy to go on every day. He was an inspiring person and such a pure soul. I support the issues you fought for and hope you´ve found your home now. Rio, you will always be missed and never forgotten. Be blessed, Angie

My name is Sylvie. I was born on the 16th January 1986 and I live in Germany. Unfortuneately, on Rivers lifetimes I was too young to become attentive to him. I became attentive on him when I was 15 years old. At that time I watched the video of "Stand by me". This film was aready my favourite film. During this time River was not so interesting for me. I was more interested in Corey Feldman. When I once read the credits where all actors were called and I read River Phoenix there, I knew that I knew this name, however, I did not know where from. At that time thank God we already had Internet. I came along immediately on the search and then found out that he was already dead since 1993. From there I soaked up everything in myself I could find about River Phoenix. Every year, when the 31st October comes closer, I think about a new tribute for River. In 2007 and 2006 I already sent tributes to Los Angeles to Edward Correll who is also a big follower of River. You find my both tributes further below. The pictures were taken on 31st October in front of the Viper Room. This was for me up to now the biggest in the matter of River. I had to cry when I saw my tributes in 2006 in front of the Viper Room. River signifies to me a lot since this day 7 years ago. I love to be in my "River-World". Then I watch his films and listen to his music. River was such a great actor and person. I would have wanted to get to know him in person and would love to know how he would look today and what he would do. Would he still do music with his sister ? Would he be a father and a husband ? It is a pity that we will never found out.
River, you are still missed and you will always be in my heart.
